Presenters: Brittany J. Herrington, Recovery & Outreach Coordinator; and Mariann J. Mota MA LCADC CCS, Addiction Services Director
This will highlight Pathways' First Day Forward peer reentry program that pairs individuals in long-term recovery with people preparing for release, addressing social determinants of health and strengthening community transitions.

  • TASC (IL) - Serving People with SUD/MH During Reentry: Defining the Business Opportunity
Presenter: Maureen McDonnell, Sr Director - Health & Justice Initiatives
This will examine how recent Medicaid policy changes - such as the post-release coverage window - create new opportunities for providers to expand reentry-focused services in a challenging environment.

  • Hill Country (TX) - Rural Mobile Response
Presenters: Landon D. Sturdivant, Deputy CEO; and Jennifer Nieto, Director of Clinic Operations
This will discuss rural mobile service delivery and how new federal rural health transformation funding can support innovative approaches to care in underserved communities.

Don’t Panic, Pivot: Executive Strategies for the Post-OBBBA Reality

Presenters: Dennis P. Morrison PhD, Chief Clinical Officer, of Eleos Health; and Dominic Miller LCSW MPA, Head of Growth & Partnerships. of Consulting For Human Services

In the wake of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) - a.k.a. H.R.1 - behavioral health and SUD leaders are facing an onslaught of new funding pressures, administrative complexity, and operational uncertainty. This session will focus less on the flashy headlines about impacts to the Medicaid system—and more on what executive teams can do now to protect client access, sustain the workforce, and strengthen care quality. We’ll unpack:

  • Projected downstream effects of the bill (including increases in uncompensated care and higher-acuity demand)
  • Decisions that become harder when Medicaid dollars tighten
  • What “realistic readiness” looks like ahead of key H.R.1 implementation dates

We’ll also explore some of the bright spots in the new legislation—like emerging funding pathways for rural transformation—and how leaders can use data, partnerships, and technology to reduce burden without compromising care. Expect candid discussion, concrete next steps, and questions designed to spark executive-level planning.

Experiencing Accountability That Inspires

Presenter: Robert “Cujo” Teschner, Award-Winning Fighter Pilot and Author of 2 #1 Best-selling Books

In this dynamic breakout building on Cujo’s powerful “Debrief to Win” keynote, you’ll explore how fighter  pilots use debriefs to drive team learning and continuous improvement. You’ll learn the core methodology behind “Debrief to Win”, practice forward-focused, team-based accountability, and discover how this approach can transform any team culture.

Succession Planning During Times of Disruption: “Always Be Prepared”

Presenters: Stacy DiStefano MC, CEO, of Consulting For Human Services; and Heather Falck, Executive Director, of Independence Blue Cross Foundation

Join Stacy DiStefano, CEO of Consulting for Human Services, for a seaside chat with Heather Falck, Executive Director of Independence Blue Cross (IBX) Foundation, Healthcare and Philanthropy Executive, Impact Strategist, and proud Gen-Xer. In times of disruption and change, as we are experiencing now in healthcare, how can leaders keep an eye to the future by cultivating leadership development of those on their team, and be prepared for their own professional advancement as well. Succession planning is necessary, and perhaps even more critical, during periods of disruption, to ensure stability and growth. For exiting leaders-being attuned to the generational shifts that are driving the leaders of tomorrow is a key to success. For leaders looking to advance, knowing how to “always be prepared” will put you in the best position for the next opportunity.

Behavioral Healthcare in a Time of Homogeneity, Inequity and Exclusion

Presenter: Joshua Rubin MPP, VP - Client Solutions, of Health Management Associates

In recent months, federal healthcare policy has made an abrupt turn away from decades of movement in the direction of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and shifting support away from models such as harm reduction and housing first. This change in the policy environment and federal priorities has significant implications for behavioral healthcare providers and the people you serve. In this session, HMA’s Josh Rubin will attempt to offer mhca members ideas about how to understand this shifting landscape, adapt to it, advocate within it, and serve your clients despite it.
